ABOVE----DUCKS.....being 'POISONED'!So much for taking the kids to feed the aul ducks in the near-by pond. It has now been reported 'illegal' to feed the local ducks anymore, especially bread, as this not only screws up the poor duck's digestive system, but also makes the fowling in the water grow!!!
This makes me very sad, as i used to love throwing slices of stale, mouldy bread to the loverly ducklings, especially in Dublin Zoo. We used to think the Zoo ducks were 'tame', although I wouldn't call them 'tame' anymore, as i don't consider nasty little buggers that attack you if you don't let go of the bread quick enough, 'tame' as such! But still, twas' a sad day when i heard this news from a close friend, when which i decided to research it.
There are two different types of ducks, Wild, and Domestic.
There are many differences between Wild ducks and Domestic ducks.
Such differences are:
WILD DUCKS
- Coulourful
- Designed to eat natural foods growing nearby
- Die from human food(organs become engorged)
- Suffer from heart and liver problems due to human food
DOMESTIC DUCKS
- Usually white with orange beak
- Physically limited
- Usual pets
- Usually can't fly
So instead of feeding your local ducks, there are plenty of ways to protect and help the little ducklings, such as:
- do NOT feed them BREAD!
- do not toss coins into the water, thinking your wish is going to come true. It's not
- leave the ducks in peace, they're happy as they are, trust me
