NF1-Neurofibromatosis type 1

Neurofibromatosis type 1 is a hereditary disorder, that affects 1 in 4,000 people. A member of my family was born with it, a very bad case of it. It involves the nervous system, the skin and bones of the body. The most distinctive features of Neurofibromatosis, is brown spots called 'cafe au-lait' spots. NF1 can also affect nerves throughout the body, including in the brain and spinal cord. There can also be pink, raised spots called 'button-holes'. These marks are found all over the body.

My sibling has thousands of all different kinds of markings all over the body. Most of them are on the torso. They say in some occasions, a person with NF1 can go mental because it affects the brain, however, my sibling is fine at the moment anyway! Although there is a few things she cannot do because of the disorder, including taking some medications, being out in the sun, and being in the water too long.

Anyway, maybe someone out there has markings like this, and has never done anything about it, so maybe you should contact your doctor, as this is a disorder that must be monitored.

Sharkey and George!

What ever happened to the cartoon 'Sharkey and George'! It was one of the best cartoons shown on T.V ever! They were the crime busters of the sea for pete's sake. Why did they stop showing it?!?

Did you know the show was originally French? 'Sharkey et Georges'

It was a cartoon consisting of a shark and a fish, who were detectives, solving all crimes around them. The theme tune is brilliant! It's famous!

'There is currently a petition going on at SharkyandGeorge.com to bring the show to DVD. When the petition has 5,000 signatures they are going to contact the creators CinéGroupe. As of September 10th 2007, the petition has just below 2,000 signatures.'(Wikipedia.com)

Here is an episode of the classic cartoon...

'Coke'---Not Just a Soft Drink!

Left--- Cocaine Molecule

Everybody has heard of the hard drug Cocaine. Cocaine is a crystalline tropane alkaloid that is obtained from the leaves of the South American shrub Erythroxylon coca.
The name comes from "coca" in addition to the alkaloid suffix -ine, forming cocaine.Wikipedia.com

Well, today, it's as easy to buy a bag of cocaine, as it is to buy a can of coke. Outrageous!

Ever since model 'Kate Moss' was caught on tape snorting cocaine, everyone seems to be taking the addictive drug.
She has made it somewhat 'Cool'!

Kate Moss Cocaine Tape

Posted Oct 03, 2005

Kate Moss is busted on tape when she busts out a few lines of somethin' somethin'. Allegedly.

I have been to many parties in the past year, that I personally have seen people snorting cocaine. It's crazy. The toilets do be jam packed with people taking the stuff. I have even seen people taking it in broad daylight on the street! It's everywhere! They think it's ok to do it, and that it's harmless. They're attitude is 'Oh well, if Kate Moss lived, so will I'.

Cocaine can be bought off the street from the average 'Joe' these days. It has become so popular, I think it has knocked 'Hash' Off the number one drug spot. I see and am ashamed to say know more people who snort cocaine than smoke Hash. Ecstacy used to be a lot more popular than cocaine and other drugs, but in the past 2-3 years the usage has died down a bit when which cocaine has rocketed!

People don't understand the dangers of cocaine.

After the 'High' you get, you experience a 'Low', which leads to a number of effects such as:

  • Depression or paranoia

  • Sleeping difficulties

  • Anxiety, Panic

  • tired and irritable

And in some cases, Sudden Adult Death, which happens on or after the FIRST taking of the drug.

So if you are stupidly considering taking Cocaine, thinking 'Ah well once can't do me much harm', just remember you could be dead before tomorrow...

DON'T LOOK BEHIND YOU!!!

You might have read about the huge spider webs found in Lake Tawakoni State Park, Texas, US. The web covers a 180m (590ft) stretch of trees and shrubs in the park. The size of a football field! Scary stuff! Instead of giant human-sized spiders creating these huge webs, they are actually a massive group of small spiders, each from different familys of spiders.

It is still not known exactly why the spiders have done this, but it is thought that maybe each spider has spun webs to keep the other spiders away from them,Although the spiders do not seem to be aggressive in any way to eachother.

Scientists belive that the webs will only last until autumn as the spiders will die off. This area of the park has become a monumental-like place for visiters all over the world coming to see these amazing 'works of art' I like to call them.

Check out the information from the BBC

How come spiders in our country don't build webs like these in such masses? This is because the spiders there in Texas are called Tetragnathids, which we do not find in Ireland. If they were, I dont think they would last very long, as the average person is absolutely terrified of spiders! Still, what the spiders have done in Lake Tawakoni State Park, is really incredible.

In a way, these spiders are like travellers, they come along in a big group, take over a certain area, and fill the area with all their belongings, and then leave after a certain time. And will sure return in due course. Not that I have anything against travellers, they just have a very similar lifestyle to these texan spiders!

Is the World Really Going to End in 2040???

countdown to D-Day!!!

CLICK ABOVE!

Well, unfortunately I think so my friend.... Have you ever heard of the holy place Medjugorje? And the Ten Secrets? If so, you probably know what i'm talking about, if not, you should read on to see what might be in store for the world we live in today....

Medugorje is a town located in Hercegovina, around 25km southwest of Mostar, close to the border of Croatia. It is best known due to apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary which appeared to six Croats since the year 1981, and is now visited by pilgrims from around the world.

It all began when the Virgin Mary appeared to a young Croat(local croatian), and told her to tell the world to repent, but she also told her if the world did not repent her sins, terrible things would happen. People thought she was mad, as when the apparition(appearance of the Virgin Mary) would take place, she would go into a sort of a trance. Scientists from all over the world, came to see her, and tested her for insanity. But they were all proved wrong, as a priest stabbed her with a knife during an apparition, she did not die.

Soon after, 5 more people recieved these same apparitions, and all were told to tell the world to repent, and were also told horrible things would happen if the world did not. These terrible things, became known as the Ten Secrets, as they were only told to the pope, who at this moment in time, has them on a piece of paper, kept safe in the Vatican. On a recent interview with one of the girls who sees these apparitions, she said that ten days before the first secret happens, she will repent, 3 days before it, she will tell the pope to tell the rest of the world.

However, on a website I have found, it has the details of all ten secrets, which are almost identical to the details given in a book i read called 'The Miracle Detective', by Randall O'Sullivan, who is a journalist who went on an adventure to Medjugorje to find these 6 people and and find out more about the ten secrets. So this might not be true, but I believe it.

Basically, the first secret is believed to take place on the 10th of April, 2009 (Good Friday), when God will touch every human on earth, in the form of an illumination of the conscience, revealing their sins.(scary stuff) The second secret is believed to take place 2 days later(Easter Sunday), where the people who repented 2 days before, will be consoled. Those who do not, won't be.

The rest of the secrets get worse as they go along. The last secret, will take place in the year 2038-2040, where one theird of the world's population will be wiped out due to 3 days of darkness, caused by the falling of comets, and crazy things like that. About 3 or 4 years ago, it was believed that the world was going to end in the year 2040, due to 'THE BIG BANG'! Well this is sort of a big bang. To see the rest of the secrets, which i highly recommend you should, check out this site: Catholic Planet

P.S, here is the interview with one of the girls...

ACCENTS....Just a thought....

Have you ever wondered how accents came about? There are so many different accents out there today, I just dont know how they came about.

Think about it, if accents are devloped from those around you, carried on from generation to generation, then who gave the first ever person on earth an accent?!?

What accent did Adam an Eve have?

I'm not talking about different languages now, i'm talking about how the accents came about.

The following information, was found on Wikipedia.com

In linguistics, an accent is a pronunciation characteristic of a particular group of people relative to another group.

Development

Children are able to take on accents at a fast rate; children of traveling families, for example, can change their accents within a short period of time. This generally remains true until a person's early twenties, after which, a person's accent seems to become more entrenched.

History

As human beings spread out into isolated communities, stresses and peculiarities develop. Over time these can develop into identifiable accents. In North America, the interaction of people from many ethnic backgrounds contributed to the formation of the different varieties of North American accents.

It is difficult to measure or predict how long it takes an accent to formulate. Accents in both the USA, Canada and Australia are derived from the British parent accent, yet North American accents remain more distant, either as a result of time or of external or "foreign" linguistic interaction, such as the Italian accent. It could also be argued that the common characteristics of North

American accents are more fairly consistent with the manner in which English was pronounced by people from Britain - most especially people from Western parts of England. Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa (particularly among whites of British-settler descent) are more recent transplants to their destinations so their accents are more-or-less in sync with the way English is spoken in Britain.

In many cases, the accents of non-English settlers from Britain affected the accents of the different colonies quite differently. Irish and Scottish immigrants had accents which greatly affected the vowel pronunciation of certain areas of Australia and Canada.

So, even after I researched this, I still don't know how the first ever human on Earth got an accent, or what accent it was!
